story.

A digital photograph of fractal tree branches, taken at the peaceful
Mt. Auburn arboretum and cemetery in Cambridge, MA, in March of 2009.

dedication.

Winter strips trees down to leafless skeletons.  Although it seems harsh at times, the temporary death of their leaves reveals an intricate hidden beauty in the geometry of branches.  We would never know about this beauty if it were not for the harshness of winter.

The trees in this photograph are in the very first days of sprouting new buds, and these buds will eventually cloak them in a life generating cape of green and gold.  This photograph is dedicated to all cancer patients who are moving through the harshness of winter, and keeping an eye toward spring.
